Pearls are created by oysters, in response to little grains of sand – irritants – that get into their shell. Jesus likened Heaven unto the priceless pearl. These two comments are not in opposition. The grains of sand, in our lives, are those uncomfortable moments that invite us to grow spiritually. Growing is not always easy, smooth, neat or pretty! But, grow we must! The only other option is to become stagnant – this we do by putting “security” above growth; above the unlimited creativity with which we came into this world. So, will we open ourselves to the challenges, the uncertainty involved with creativity and growth, or remain closed as the oyster? The choice is ours! Let’s get busy pearling!!
