Father’s Day

Every year, on this day, we celebrate Father’s Day!! We gather the family together and, perhaps, have a big barbecue! What a wonderful time! However, there is a higher, more serious aspect to father’s day; one of joy that surpasses that of gatherings and food and fun and laughter! It is that of remembering and celebrating the love, guidance and protection of our Heavenly Father!! We are Spirit, born of Spirit!! We are Life from Life! To some, our earthly fathers were our only example of Father God; imperfect at times, unpredictable at others, whereas our Heavenly Father is ALWAYS perfect in every way, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow! Where our earthly fathers, truly loved us, God’s love is so much greater, more steadfast, and ever-present! So, let us CELEBRATE our earthly fathers!! Let us THANK them for all their sacrifices on our behalf! Let us LOVE them with all our hearts! But let us do this in the knowingness that they are but a tiny “fraction” of the ALLNESS of the One who CREATED and LOVES us, UNCONDITIONALLY, FOREVER!!

Psalm 23

The 23rd Psalm has been recited by Christian, Jew and non-Christian alike! It is our assurance–an all times–of the Father’s constant support, guidance and love for us.Attributed to King David, by some, it details the many ways in which God cares for us, heals us, keeps us from harm and fear! We are invited, this Sunday to reaffirm each of its messages for us. Then, in turn, we are invited to be the Good Shepherd of  our own thoughts, guiding them, assuring them, keeping them at peace! As God has done for us, we are to do for our “thought sheep.”

Divinity Realized

“I am in the Father, and the Father in me.” (John 14:11) These words of Jesus had to have been mind-blowing for the disciples. But, when we realize that these very words are also true of US–when we REALIZE our Divinity–this realization also, as with Jesus, carries a responsibility–that of expressing it fully! Our Divinity is not something to be attained, but rather, it is born in us from the start! God has placed in us everything we need to live a wonderful, meaningful, purposeful life–EVERYTHING!! This morning, we are invited to take a closer look at what all of this means, to realize it, accept the ramifications of it and to put it to work in our daily lives–to LIVE IT!! As children of God, we are wonderful, creative beings! We are invited to celebrate this Truth! It is the key to a life of Divine blessings!

Memorial Day

Freedom! God gave us free will! He did this for a purpose; that we might be able to CHOOSE to abide in His wisdom, love, strength, His ALLNESS! When we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we do so in the realization that He endured the Crucifixion to SET US FREE from the BELIEF in DEATH! Freedom!! Through the ages, men have died for it. Here in America, we celebrate the bravery and dedication to freedom for which so many have given their lives! On an historic note, Memorial Day was started following the Civil War, when freed slaves found a mass grave of Union Soldiers, dug them up and gave each of them a proper burial!! Today, on Memorial Day, we continue celebrating this same Spirit of Freedom, on a national level! Let us never take this most precious gift from God for granted! Let us give thanks for those who have helped preserve it! Let us receive from them that courage and make it a part of our own consciousness!!

Rock Bottom

“God, help me!!” Three words! The universal prayer that has led addicts to being clean, alcoholics to sobriety; that has led countless people to new and higher walks in life! It has been said that willingness is in direct proportion to pain and/or discomfort! This place, however painful it may be, in the moment, is what God uses to bless us in countless ways. This is the place where we become OPEN and RECEPTIVE to His guidance and WILLING to do whatever it takes to follow Him! Rock bottom forms the solid foundation upon which a new life, a new way, a new consciousness can be built!! Embrace it! Call it good! Romans 12:2 tells us, “…be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Rock bottom is both the foundation and the springboard!! New adventure awaits!!

HOLY BREATH

Key to keeping our teachings practical is the idea of Holy Breath–or Holy Spirit. Biblically speaking, Spirit is female in nature, or that receptive aspect within us. To be noted: at the tomb, it was a WOMAN who saw Christ, first. By becoming more aware of, and in alignment with, our breath, we can become more aware of, and receptive to, the Life Force–the Divinity–within us, and, those Truth ideas with which Holy Spirit would enlighten us. This week, we are given steps to becoming more conscious of our breathing, thereby allowing us to awaken to each moment–the NOW–and the Divine Truths contained within it. We will hear steps to clear our thinking of limiting beliefs and open ourselves to the Universal LIFE that we ARE! We’ll learn how we can USE each breath to GROW in compassion, forgiveness, clarity, love and purpose. Every breath is a prayer; a prayer of LIFE!! Now…BREATHE!!

Appreciation Of The Path

We are all Spiritual beings, having a human experience! All have walked different paths; absolutely, none alike. Our INDIVIDUAL paths have varied, immensely, from day to day; week to week! Our paths have had, and will continue to have, many ups and downs, twists and turns, obstacles and easy stretches. They cross and join the paths of others, sometimes only to separate, again! There is a Divine Purpose behind all of this; that being to RAISE US TO HIGHER UNDERSTANDING and SPIRITUAL STRENGTH! God has given us a little understood power of intuition; Spiritual GPS, one might call it to guide us on our individual journey. We can use the nudges it gives us to facilitate our journey; to make the MOST of it! Most important, we can APPRECIATE our individual paths, knowing that ALL roads–whether we see it in the moment or not–lead to the Light—the Light from which we came–Home. This week, we are invited, in the face of all seeming obstacles, to move onward and upward, to APPRECIATE, each step of the way, for it is a gift from God!

WORKSHOP: MIND OVER MAYHEM

Wednesday, May 12, from 10:30 – 12 Noon, Rev. Ken Fendricks will facilitate a workshop which will delve into the nature and practice of how we think, both from Spiritual Truth and Modern Psychology points of view. Practical tools will be presented to aid you in creating an awareness of your thinking and how to discipline it to align with your highest good!

Charles Fillmore, Unity’s Co-founder had this to say, in The Revealing Word: “The thinking faculty n you makes you a free agent, because it is your creative center; in and through this one power, you establish your consciousness–you build your world.”

The workshop will be given via zoom, on a love-offering basis. All are invited!

Mind Engagement

Our INDIVIDUAL MINDS, combined with our awareness and will, might be compared, loosely, to an automobile’s transmission; transferring the POWER OF DIVINE MIND TO THE “WHEELS” OF OUR EXPERIENCE. We, in the use of our will, choose which gear—including reverse—in which we wish to drive! Many have become so used to today’s automatic transmissions—doing the deciding FOR us, as we climb hills, slow for turns or speed up to make that light—that we couldn’t BEGIN to drive yesterday’s manual transmissions, which require constant awareness and split-second decision-making. The same might apply to our use of the power behind our thoughts! This week, we are invited to be AWARE of our chosen thoughts; their character and their intensity, and where they are leading us! It is in our CHOICE of thoughts, that we POWER our experiences. One would not drive a Maserati the same as a VW; likewise, we are invited, this week, to HONOR the MATCHLESS POWER behind our chosen thoughts; choose them wisely, and THEN, gently engage that accelerator to enjoy an exciting, happy journey, to wherever our thoughts take us!.

SELF-MATURITY

Why are we here, in this world? This question has puzzled mankind through the ages. The simplest answer might be, “To BE!” “But,” we say, “There HAS to be MORE!” Our own souls are constantly urging us for this mysterious “more!”  To reach any goal, we must know our starting point! This involves self-reflection! We must know the tools at our disposal. We must have a vision of our goal. And, we must be WILLING to WORK toward our envisioned goal! This week, we are given some tools with the invitation to use them  The greatest tool, of course, is the example that Jesus gave of the CHRIST consciousness! As we hold this model in mind, and work to make it a part of our own being, we will grow in its direction! This Sunday, Rev. Michael gives us ten steps we can use in our growth toward emotional — and spiritual — maturity! Invite these steps into your consciousness, as you would invite a friend into your own home!! Make them welcome on a day-to-day basis! Stay, always, in contact with them! And, as any true friend, they will support you in your journey toward Self-Maturity!!
